The Lancet Rheumatology Journal - November
November cover for the Lancet Rheumatology Journal. The paper inspiring this cover looked at the variable responses of patients with Rheumatoid Arthritis to currently available treatments. The paper examined if the presence of B cells in the synovium of the joints could be used to predict improvement of a patient’s symptoms after being treated with different drugs.
To do this the study involves taking a synovial biopsy to see how many B cells were present in the joint’s synovial tissue and assign a drug accordingly.
